What a fabulous article Henry Statkowski has posted! As I reviewed the article and then went to MapQuest [ http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?city=Dixonville&state=PA&country=us#a/maps/l:::Dixonville:PA::US:40.7164:-79.007202:city:Indiana County:1/m:hyb:12:40.720137:-79.013974:0:::::::::/io:0:::::f:EN:M:/e ] and was able to trace the railway all the way from Cherry Tree to Dixonville. Spent many memorable moments recalling the history of this line and my personal experiences that paralleled the rail system. Cush Cushion Creek - baptized in it. Cherry Tree - had family that lived there - 5 male cousins to the same Uncle [Thomas Fleming]. Commodore - High School there. In my years the track was extended to the Clymer Brick Yards. Near Dixonville - Tracks extended to Barr Slope Coal Mines. Dixonville - Recall placing pennies on the track when we heard the train coming. RR Bridge in Dixonville - Several of us kids would crawl down through the ties on ! the bridge that was literally in our back yard and sit there 24 - 36 inches below the train - hoping that the engine would not let out steam while crossing over us. So many memories. The tracks did not cross my frequent cross country runs to Commodore High School but went down near Buck Run where we went to church and as I was older worked repairing the coal tipple there. Thanks!
