Author: rbchopper Surnames: Fleming, Henry, Holmes, Mentch, Styles, Grumbling, Craig Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.indiana/6450.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Having spent 13 or more years, 5 of them in the Dixonville Grade School [4th through 8th], and 4 years High School at Commodore, much of the area around Dixonville, and having run the 4 or so miles from Dixonville to Commodore in prep for track and field, and time spent hunting all over the hills and woods of the area, it seemed to this writer that the land and features of earlier times were well explored by myself and other young friends, it comes as a surprise to learn that there was once a "Cherry Tree / Dixonville Railroad" system. It was also through this site that the fact that there was a Hospital in Dixonville where many of the survivors of the great Sample Run mine accident victims were taken. My question is, " Are there any maps or sketches indicating the location/path of the above railroad. I would seem to be obvious that there was some sort of track mounds in the area between Dixonville and Commodore that would confirm the once traveled route/bed of the railroad?"
