Mrs. Palmer has told two widely different stories, at first saying that she shot her husband because he was drunk and then claiming that her husband was faithless in enticing a Hill girl and that this led to the tragedy. The little Hill girl tells a story that exonerates her. She went to the Palmer house to listen to their graphophone and as her feet were wet through having walked in the snow and slush, she took here shoes off and put them into the oven to dry. Palmer was laying on his bed in a drunken stupor and whe! n he failed to answer his wife's summons, she uttered a terrible oath and said she would shoot him. The Hill girl grabbed her shoes and coat and fled from the house. She was in the yard when Mrs. Palmer shot her husband. Palmer's wound is giving Dr. Heagy much trouble and it is feared that he may not recover. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
