I have Emmanuel Z. (E.Z.) I remember seeing his grave. from the Schreckengast History by Gary Schrecengost: Daniel Schreckengost, son of Conrad, the first Schreckengost born in Armstrong County (Valley Township: 1807), "was listed as a gunsmith in the tax records of Bullskin Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, from 1820-29 [as an apprentice to George Biddle]; and from 1830-34 in Connellsville..On 22 February, 1836 [he] acquired 400 acres of land by warrant in Valley Township, Armstrong County. [where he] kept a tavern called 'Stone House' in Valley Township and married Mary Crum, whose father was a German farmer in Plum Creek Township..In later life he moved to [the town of] Rural Valley [the major town in Cowanshannock Township], remaining there until his death. He was a thrifty, industrious, and prosperous man, followed his trade of gunsmith as well as farming and tavern keeping, and acquired the ownership of three hundred acres in [the] township. He was an active Republican, served as constable for several years, and at one time was the candidate for his party for sheriff of Armstrong County [he lost].. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. He had one son, Emmanuel Z. Schreckengost, who was a blacksmith, undertaker, and carriage maker." Virginia, The years are a litle off but it's possible. I need to check my graveyard videos again when I find time. > You know I had an Anne McCurdy(b. 1847) that married Emaniel Schreckengost > and died within a few years. I found information many years ago that Ann (Anna G.)McCurdy married Emaniel. I don't have the length of their marriage but she died and I believed he remarried and she is buried in Rural Valley Cemetery. At that time my father and I walked the cemetery but couldn't find a stone. I was told by a man he had the records in his basement and he didn't offer to look for me. It was in the 90's that August day and my Dad and I were tired so we didn't press it. Would love to know more about them.
