He was listed in East Mahoning in the 1900 census, 1880 census, 1870, and 1860. I thought I would have found a death record on him in Indiana County, or an obituary. I did find a newspaper article on his daughter Tillie: Obituary on December 27, 1905 in Indiana Progress: TILLIE PARSONS Miss Tillie Parsons, daughter of the late John Parsons, died at the home of John C. Work, in East Mahoning township, Tuesday night, of Typhoid pneumonia, aged about 15 years. -- Since it has "late John Parsons" and the date is 1905 but John was in the 1900 census, I would think I would find an obituary or death record in East Mahoning between those dates. Not yet. I looked at Marriages index file by Indiana County Historical Society, Pennsylvania FHL film 539076 item 3, Death Records Index File, 1800's by Indiana County Historical Society in PA, FHL film 539077 item 1, and Birth Records Index File 1800's by Indiana Co. Historical Society, PA FHL film 539076 item 2. There were no marriages for Smith or Parson listed in Indiana County Pennsylvania, No births for Parson either or deaths. I looked for name variations and couldn't find anything on THESE FHL microfilms listed above. I am now kind of confused since I thought John Parson's family lived in East Mahoning, Indiana County, Pennsylvania where would the births have taken place? I'm guessing his marriage could have been in Armstrong or Jefferson County? What about his wife Lucinda Smith Parson's death before 1895 when he remarries to Annie Corson (nee Anna Jane McCracken)? I'm trying to figure out what I do next. John Parson(s) and family lived in East Mahoning according to census records and newspaper articles. Why can't I find the birth and death records or marriage records for this family? Where do I go from here? Thanks for any help, Mindy.
