There should be some kind of court record or keep looking in newspaper for more articles. I found some court records of a gggrandfather, we think, who was involved in a fight on a riverboat. We have been trying to find a newspaper article, but can't find anything as we can't find any newspapers for 1841-1843 in Indiana Co. A cousin and I were in Indiana over a year ago and found a lady, and I can't remember what dept at the courthouse, who found the court record and was very helpful. Good Luck, Nancy Mayfield In a message dated 09/07/09 10:15:40 Central Daylight Time, kellydunmirefam writes: Happy Labor Day to all. >From the Indiana Messenger of 14-Oct-1874: “The sewing machine man, D.S. Dunmire, who has been confined in the Indiana county jail for several months past on a charge of fornication and bastardy, but who was released from custody on Wednesday last in consequence of a settlement of the “little unpleasantness” with the party of the second part, was taken to Ebensburg [PA] by Sheriff Baumer and lodged in jail to await legal proceedings in the matter of certain frauds and embezzlement said to have been committed by him in the sale of sewing machines.” How can I find out what happened in this matter? Whether it ever went to court and what the decision was? I’m particularly interested in finding out if the records indicate Mr. Dunmire’s first name. I believe him to be my great-grandfather. Any information will be appreciated.
