    1. Re: [INDIANA] Need a lookup for a name in the History of Indiana county
    2. Jamie, there is indeed several references to Hugh St. Clair in this book. I have copies at home. I am researching all St.Clair and Sinclair families in Western Pennsylvania. I have a FTM Gedcom file on Hugh's descendants, but have not determined who his parents were. It is believed by myself and others searching this line that Hugh was related to James Jamison St. Clair, also of Indiana County, Samuel Sincleer of Westmoreland County, and Arthur St. Clair of Westmoreland County. Hugh, James, and Samuel all came from County Tyrone Ireland of a village named Holy Hill. James Sinclair of Borland Scotland was the first of this family to immigrate to Holy Hill Ireland. Arthur came directly from Scotland via the British Army. Arthur St. Clair was the first land agent (1774) in Western Pennsylvania for the Penn family, and was to recruit settlers to farm the land and protect against the Indians. I think he sent for his own relatives. Arthur St. Clair and James Jamison St. Clair were cousins, their fathers were brothers. They shared the same grandfather, James Merchant Sinclair of Scotland. I will be away this weekend, hosting a Sinclair tent at the Columbus Indiana Highland Games, but will send the info that pertains to Hugh next week. Please provide me your snail mail address off line. There is also a book called "The Hugh St. Clair Story" that is in the Ligonier Pennsylvania Library.
