Anna is buried at Grandview Cemetery in Johnstown, Lot 142, Section ED1, (perhaps with her parents?). Her obituary had a heart-wrenching follow-up article the next day: Anna Nolan Rager, wife of Charles E. Rager, died of smallpox, complicated with dropsy and heart disease, at the Municipal Hospital at 8:30 o’clock last evening, aged twenty-seven years. Besides her husband and a seven-year-old daughter, Mrs. Rager is survived by these brothers and sisters: Samuel Nolan, of the Fourteenth Ward; Ida, wife of Thomas Stonebraker, of the Fourteenth Ward; Jacob Nolan, of Rosedale; William J. Nolan, of Proser Hollow, and Mary Nolan, of McKeesport. Mrs. Rager was born in Rosedale July 4, 1875, and was the daughter of William J. Nolan and Mary Elizabeth Lightner Nolan, both of whom died several years ago in Rosedale. She made her home on Iron street, Thirteenth Ward, but at the time she became ill was living with her brother Jacob, at Rosedale. The funeral will be held this evening, the remains leaving the Municipal Hospital at 7 o’clock, and interment will be made in Grand-View Cemetery. The Daily Tribune Johnstown, Pennsylvania Monday, 22 Dec 1902 Charles E. Rager, whose wife died of smallpox Sunday night at the Municipal Hospital, came to the city yesterday afternoon on Mail Express from Braddock, where he had been working during the past month, to spend Christmas with his wife and little daughter in the Fourteenth Ward. When Rager alighted at the P.R.R. Station, he met a neighbor and said to him: “Well, Dan, how are my wife and daughter getting along?” To Rager’s question the neighbor responded: “I may as well tell you now as later, Charles, your wife died of smallpox Sunday evening and her remains are to be buried this evening in Grand-View Cemetery. This is sad news, but it’s true.” Rager, who had not even heard that his wife was ill, seemed bewildered for a while and then inquired: “Do you think the authorities would allow me to see her remains if I go to the hospital?” Rager’s friend responded: “If she were my wife, and died under similar circumstances, there is nothing under the sun that would stop me.” Rager then started out to Rosedale to see his little daughter and to inquire as to how his wife contracted the disease, and by the time he returned to the city the remains of his wife had been taken from the hospital to the cemetery.” The Tribune Johnstown, Pennsylvania Tuesday, 23 December 1902 Front Page, Col. 6 Their daughter was Stella May RAGER who married John C. WALZ, s/o Edward & Mary, on 4 May 1912 in Johnstown. Her uncle, Jacob NOLAN, was named as her guardian. I don't know what happened to Charles. He isn't buried at Grandview with Anna. According to 1900 census, Johnstown, 14th Ward, he was b. Aug 1874.
