I'm not sure how helpful this resource is, but you can plug in the names of towns in the following web site and come up with satellite images. They seem to be from either the late 1970s or early 1990s, but I find them absolutely fascinating to see relationships between towns, landmarks, cemeteries, etc. Here is the main site link: http://terraserver.microsoft.com/ You can plug in the name of the town and the state in the "Search" function and it will take you to whatever satellite views they have. They are usually sections of the area. You can click on them to zoom in .... and it is usually enough to pinpoint roads, reservoirs, lakes, houses, churches, etc. Have fun. I've spent hours using the arrows to follow roads, and have been able to pinpoint some that I had been looking for while on the ground! Sue
Sue, I would like to thank you for your posting concerning terraserver.microsoft.com/ . My husband was a pilot and when I showed him this site, he spent several hours locating our home and homes of friends of ours across the US. A few minutes of fun with very little cost and never leave the comfort of your own home!
