Arthur McLaughlin was born in either Pennsylvania or Ireland, census documents are conflicting. He was born in April 1838 and died in June 1878. He lived in Armstrong Twp. and around 1860 in Shelocta. His 1st wife was Mary Kerr daughter of James Kerr. They had 2 children Catherine Agnes and Joseph Wilson. Catherine was born in 1862 and Joseph in February 1864. Mary Kerr McLaughlin died in March 1864. Arthur's 2nd wife was Elizabeth Jane Crawford, they were married in 1866. Arthur was Burgess of Shelocta twice during the 1870's before his death. In the 1870 census a Nancy, born in Ireland, about 1809 was listed living with them. Again in 1880 Nancy again is listed living with Arthur's 2nd wife and listed as Mother-in-Law.
