Yvonne, I have a poor copy of a map of Green County but there are some schools located on the map near Cookport. ( I think this map is from the 1871 atlas) Unfortunately the schools are identified by a number, not a name, but there is a school marked on the same road as a C. Baker house is marked. Right next to School No. 6? is a small road with "P. Johnson" marked at the end with "S.S. Mill" (steam saw mill) and a row of dots marked "Shanties" This is located on a road that heads east from Cookport to Spruce. I think you can view this map at Treasures of the Past site. I'd be interested in a scan of the sawmill if you wouldn't mind, I have an interest in the lumber business in that area in the 1800's. I also checked in the chapter on Green Twp. in Stewart's book, found no mention of the school.
