Anyone researching early Mitchells of Indiana Co. PA Olathe First United Methodist Church (now Grace UMCt) of Johnson Co.KS just published a history book and one of the early pastors from 1888-1890 was William J Mitchell, born near Shelota, Indiana Co. PA Sept 16 1835. There is a nice professional and military biography in it about him I will copy and share if anyone wants it, unfortunately it does not tell anything about his parents or siblings. He attended the Elders Ridge Academy and preached the Elderton circuit before moving to Kansas. Married to Katie D Deal of Lawrence KS in Lawrence KS in 1881. Had a daughter Edith, according to the 1900 Census where they were living in Marysville, Marshall Co. KS. Katie was listed as also being from Pennsylvania. He may have had family in Meadville in 1910 as he was planning on visiting there right before his death (from pneumonia). Barb
