It doesn't surprise me that she was missing in the 1860 census. A lot of Green Township families had missing people. The census takers sucked. Especially back in those vallys. I have to tell you that the odds are against you finding an obituary. But, you might find a small death or estate notice in the paper. Check to see if there are any estate papers at the courthouse for her husband Goerge. Be sure to check both Indiana and Cambria County as things could be filed either place that far back. I did find one small notation in the History of Indiana County that Peter Leasure(Lazure) took over the George Baker Farm in 1849. In the 1860 census Peter is two households above George(Jr) and Elizabeth Baker. I did a three consecutive page search for Catherine Baker in the 1860 census. She's not listed. I also did an extensive Google search on George Baker in Indiana County. Dead Air. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Perhaps you can provide some additional info. Was Baker a married or maiden name? What was here age? Who was she married to? Who were her parents? The only Bakers in Green Twp in 1860-1870 were George and Elizabth Baker, John & Margaret Baker, Levi & Caroline Baker and Hezekiah & Catherine Baker. Hezekiah's Catherine died in 1934. None of these families had a Catherine as a daughter. The Indiana papers in 1870 typically did not publish obits. At the most there may be a one or two line death notice.
