    2. Sorry 'bout not replying sooner . . . Kathy and I have been under the weather last couple of weeks, we think she had the swine flu. I really have had much genealogy going on. Seems like the last few years there has been nothing. Kathy is still plugging away at her family's history, and is still compiling data for book about Frank Gonner. We spent two weeks in Colorado, visiting her father in Denver, and research in Durango. We were able to view bank records that went back to 1882! We also spent a lot of time at the Center of SouthWest Studies too. Kathy was also a guest speaker at a little gathering in Marvel. The locals sure do love their histories. With having 40 years with GM, I really wasn't concerned about losing my job, but I was laid off for part of the summer. That was great! Almost hated going back. It was a little taste of retirement. But now I guess GM is better, and I'm sure my job and retirement will be secure in the future. We interred my parents last year. My dad was cremated in 2002, and my mom in 2007, but it wasn't until the fall of 2008, that my sister found a place to lay them to rest. It was a very nice ceremony. The VFW sent out seven veterans, who did a 21 gun salute for my father. He was a Captain in the Army Air Corps during WWII. We also had a bagpiper play. At the end we had him play a fitting tune at the end, and then we would start to walk away while still playing. Then he changed into a little livelier tune and he played on as his pipes slowly faded away in the distance. Aye, it brought a tear to my eye. adios, -Gary

    1. [PA INDIANA] Charles Gibson of Westmoreland Co.
    2. brief recap: Charles Gibson was born abt 1755 in Eastern PA, and moved to Westmoreland Co., PA. He may be a son of a William Gibson, who died in Cumberland Co. in 1771. He is listed in the D. A. R. as serving in the Revolutionary War. He married Esther Graham and they had 9 children. Charles Gibson died about 1803.(even though he lived in Westmoreland Co., there has been an interest in some people in Indiana Co.) Only three of Charles Gibson's nine children have been named: Charles Jr., Rebecca, and Ann. Recently, I had been corresponding with a guy named Artemis. He had some questions about a Charles Gibson, who lived in Mercer Co., PA, and died there in 1828. He really doesn't have much information on the Mercer Co. Charles Gibson, but he did send me a very interestioning snippet from a church record in Nashannock Twp., Mercer Co., PA. It says: Abner Gibson "came to Neshannock (Mercer Co., PA) from Westmoreland Co., PA in 1811. His brothers, William, Isaac, and Francis preceded him by at least eight years. He was married to Mrs. Martha Dickey." >From Artemis, the church record also states that Abner was a son of Charles Gibson. It had been believed that this was the Charles Gibson who was living in Mercer Co., PA, until now. There is no paper work that proves or shows the children of the Mercer Co. Charles Gibson, so in a way these sons "are up for grabs". That's not the way to do genealogy, but it helps us to find new paths or eliminate others. The clincher is that these sons were from Westmoreland Co.! The census records place some of the sons in Westmoreland Co., while the Mercer Co., Charles Gibson is in . . . Mercer Co. (at the same time, in Westmoreland Co., there is Charles Gibson Sr. and Charles Gibson Jr. I could go on and say more, but this is enough for now. So, this is not actually proven, but it sure leaves the door open for more investigation. Four more children of Charles Gibson and Esther Graham may have been found. adios for now, Gary T. Gibson

A rumor was also circulated that both men were supposed to have been killed in a drunken fight, near Vandergrift, and that their bodies had been thrown into the Kiskiminetas river to hide the crime. There is no truth in either report as Mr. Fleming is now at his home in Cherryhill township and McCoy is living and well.
