I remember you when you were little. It is super good to hear from you. I haven't spent much time on tracing the family tree in quite some time but hope to get back to it soon. Unfortunately I didn't have much luck at all and no one that is left in the family (Aunt Kitty) or my mom have had any information. It was really frustrating. I would love to stay in touch with you and find out how you have been and what you have been up to!!! Maureen Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. > Is there someplace where there might be accessible birth and marriage > records for the early 1800s for Indiana and/or Westmoreland counties? Newspapers, family Bibles, pension applications Government records of marriages in Pa did not start until 1885, births until 1894, except for the first attempt in 1852-1854, but compliance was low. Is there someplace where there might be accessible birth and marriage records for the early 1800s for Indiana and/or Westmoreland counties? My g-g-g-grandmother, Sarah HICE, was born in 1816 in Indiana Co. to parents whose names are unknown to me. Where might I find birth records for that period? She married Robert Smith Lemmon about Febr 1838 in PA - probably in either Indiana or Westmoreland counties. Where might I look for such marriage records? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
