The deceased was a daughter of Robert T.Allision of Green township, one of the early settlers of that part of the county. Mrs.Lowman was a most excellent lady, remarkble for her kindness of heart,a devoted and affectionate mother, untiring in her care for her children. But she has now gone to her rest, her labors are ended on the earth. "Blessed are they who die in the Lord." We extend our most tender sympathy to the family and sister. The article would seem to prove that Mary was the second wife of John Lowman. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I can see I have some thorny discrepancies to sort through. My information comes from the Josiah V Thomson Journals, in which he was researching the Jack - McFarland lines, among many others around 1920. He showed Elizabeth McFarland, b 3 Oct 1805, m John Lowman (no dates) w/ son John McFarland Lowman. Your info from your relation shows John M.(cFarland) Lowman to be son of John and his 1st wife Mary Allison (same b date as I had for 2nd wife), which I find odd, given the son's middle name. Clearly I have some work to do to try to unravel these contradictions. Again thanks for your input. Tom Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I had John & Elizabeth (McFarland) Lowman with only the one son, John McFarland Lowman. Your note on 8 Feb mentioned Robert M. (1835-36), whom I added. But the census you mention shows further siblings to John McFarland Lowman: Christiana, Thomas, and ROBERT, 16. I do not have a death date for Elizabeth (McFarland) Lowman. Do I understand all these children to be hers? Allison? Samuel? John seems to have remarried (Mary, 35). Do you know which is her first child? Thank you for any further light you can shed on this family. Tom Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Lowman on an 1850 census. I just looked at it again, and it is the Harrold family William, 63, Jane, 50, and daughter sarah, 16, in Center township, Indiana County, state, Pennsylvania. However, turning the page in the Lowman book, I find 1850 census, Indiana Co., Greene township with John Lowman, 56; Mary, 35; Abraham, Christian, John, age 21,or it might be 20, it's hard to read, Thomas, Robert, and then all the second brood of children. so I take back the apology! I do have him in 1850. Dinah Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I've found 1870, 1860, and 1850 census references to him, and just recently found a funeral notice for him, in my husband's grandfather's papers which are in possession of his nephew. He died in McComb, Illinois December 23,1872 of consumption. I have Elizabeth McFarland's parents listed as John McFarland, Captain (1780-1829) and Christian Mitchell (1773-1812). No info on any of her siblings. She did name her youngest child Robert M. Lowman. He was born 1 Oct 1835, she died 7 October 1836. Not much help, I'm afraid.
