    3. Hi, I was wondering if someone on the site might be able to help me obtain the obituary notices for the above mentioned people and their daughter, Betty. John David Watkins died in August 1980 per Social Security. His wife, Margaret Pennington Watkins died Dec. 21, 1996. They also had a daughter, named Betty J Butchkoskie, who died on January 9, 1996. As far as I know, they both died in Indiana, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mary Flack Gasport, NY

Ferrier Died Suddenly on Monday John D. Ferrier, of Montgomery township, who was serving in court as a juror, Tuesday morning received a message informing him that his wife had died on Monday. He was sitting as a juror on a case at the time, but was excused by Judge Telford, and left for his home on the B., R & P. train this morning. The message did not give the cause of Mrs. Ferrier's death. Her husband said she was apparently in her usual health when he left home on Sunday. C. FERRIER Registry Assessor of the Second Ward Passed Away form Effects of Paralytic Stroke Suffered Week Ago. A BUSY CAREER Andrew C. Ferrier, aged 63 years, died at his home on South Seventh street Tuesday evening at 8:50 o'clock, form the effects of a paralytic stroke which he sustained eight days before, his entire left side being paralyzed. Mr. Ferrier was born September 27, 1861, near Taylorsville, Green township, Indiana County, Pa., and was a son of the late Amos W. and Mary Brown Ferrier. He taught school for several years, and later operated a drilling machine, drilling many wells in Indiana county. He was united in marriage April 12, 1894, with Miss Sarah J. Shearer, of White township, and their home was established in Indiana, where the family has since resided. At the time of his marriage Mr. Ferrier was engaged in the dray business which he for several years continued. Later he purchased a stone quarry and also died general contract work. He for several years conducted a grocery store in partnership with A. L. Stuchell, under the firm name of Ferrier and Stuchell, and later as A. C. Ferrier and Son. Mr. Ferrier was possessed of a genial disposition and made many friends. He was a kind and loving husband and father, a true neighbor and a good citizen in every sense of the word. At various times he held the office of street commissioner, served on the Borough Council and for the past several years had been Assessor of the Second Ward, Indiana. The deceased was a consistent member of Zion Lutheran Church. He is survived by his widow , Sarah J. Ferrier, one daughter, Mary, wife of D. C. Freedline; and one son, Chas A. Ferrier , all of Indiana. He is also survived by one brother, Amos Ferrier, of South Fork, Pa., and one sister, Mrs. Judson Mumau, of Indiana, Pa. Funeral services will be conducted at his late home, 441 South Seventh street, by his pastor, Dr. J. B Baker, Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock and interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. She moved with her parents to Huntingdon county, near Hollidaysburg, when about 10 years of age and was married to Samuel Ferrier, now deceased in 1827. They moved to Indiana county, Brushvalley township, about 1838, where they lived about six years and then moved to the old home where she died. She was a member of the United Brethren church and lived a consistent Christian life. She was the mother of three sons, two of whom, Samuel and Wesley, are still living at home. Her remains were interred in Greenwood cemetery Sunday, September 25, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. D. M. Kinter, of Indiana. Her life was a long and active one and she met death calmly and peacefully, "and was gathered unto her people, being old and full of days:" and her sons Samuel and Wesley bu! ried her. He was a former resident of White township and was about 60 years old. He served in 88 and 103d Pennsylvania. The remains were brought here Tuesday and buried from H. H. Steving's undertaking rooms this morning >From unknown newspaper date penciled 5-10-97 Jesse Ferrier, died at the Soldiers' Home, at Erie, Monday morning, of consumption, at the age of 59. He was a member of the G. A. R. having enlisted in Co, E. 88th regiment, form which he was discharged on account of poor health. He afterward enlisted in the 103 d regiment. The deceased was married to a Miss Fleming soon after the war. He is survived by three sons, Frank , William and Samuel. The remains were brought to Indiana last night and the services will be conducted by the local Post this morning at 10. The interment will be made in Oakland Cemetery. County Strip Mine Fire Claims Life Of Commodore Miner Saturday COMMODORE -- A father of 12 children died at Indiana Hospital Saturday evening from third degree burns suffered Friday afternoon while working at a coal-stripping operation in Green Twp. Seward Ferrier, 46, of Commodore R. D. 1. succumbed at 7:50 p.m., Saturday, as a result of the Friday afternoon mishap at the Shick Coal Company strip mine, located between Clymer and Commodore. The miner died of third -degree burns of the chest, arms, face and head, according to Dr. F. J. Kellam, Indiana physician. The victim was said to have been oiling the mechanism of a large diesel power shovel when his clothing suddenly burst into flames. Fellow workmen said they heard the man screaming and saw flames enveloping his body. Workers rolled the victim on the ground in order to quell the flames. Mr. Ferrier, and oiler at the strip job, was admitted to Indiana Hospital at 3:30 p.m. Friday and remained in a critical condition. He had worked on strip mine jobs in Indiana County for the past 12 years and was employed by the Shick company for the past 18 months. Indiana County officials and state mine inspectors planned a further investigation today. A complete obituary can be found on page six of today's Indiana Evening Gazette. Page 6 of the paper SEWARD BLAINE FERRIER 46, died in Indiana Hospital June 26, at 7:50 p.m. from burns received at 3 p.m. the previous day while working on some strip mining near Commodore. A resident of Green Township, Commodore R. D. , where he was born June 10, 1908, he was a son of Robert and Miriam Griffith Ferrier. He is survived by his wife, Lila Mae Rager Ferrier, and six children; Miss Lula Belle, Daisy Ruth, Amos William, Carlyle, Helen Louise and Mary Catherine all at home; also by two brothers, Aaron M. Ferrier of Clymer and W. Ross Ferrier of Indiana. Friends will be received at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Hillsdale, until 2:30 p.m. (DST) Tuesday, June 29, the hour of service in the Funeral Home. The Rev. L. M. Bennett will officiate with interment following in Manor Cemetery near Penn Run.
