    3. While you are talking about Black Lick Township, can anyone tell me how and when the county lines changed. Wasn't Blacklick listed in Conemaugh and then Indiana? I have one family always in Blacklick but different county names? Was also Program Vice President for Cleveland's ECCGS (East Cuyahoga County Genealogical Society) where programming was directed to providing "how to" monthly! For more information and directions see www.NorthHillsGenealogists.org The value of DNA testing is aiding an ability to help find “Genetic Cousins” by comparing the results of as few as two people. Males are able to see if another male is a descendant from their direct paternal line; or if a spelling change or adoption confuses relationship; is there a relationship with another family in another region or with individuals in other lineage groups. Women, thru separate testing, can establish or disprove sequencing relatedness of ancestor females. Discussion will include what is DNA testing, as a scientific tool, which involves many facets such as facilitating a unique family fingerprint; DNA signature matching and interpretation of results for surname groups or lineages; generation distance; surname/clan reconstruction and regional migration. Deciphering the terminology such as markers, mutation rates, Haplogroups, MRCA, etc. can help understanding and take the mystery out of this new genealogy tool. And how I can use public service DNA databases to further matching of my results with other DNA submitters using other commercial services for testing. Thursday April 22 through Saturday April 24, 2004, The Ohio Genealogical Society will have its annual conference in Wilmington, Ohio. With 7 lectures per hour no genealogist will lack from an interesting and educational experience. Sales exhibits will let you see products and discuss their merits before purchasing. Dr. Tom Jones, CG, CGL is the keynote speaker giving the opening lecture "Seven Habits of Highly Effective Genealogist" as well as "Five Proven Techniques for Finding Your Ancestor's European Origins" and "Solving the Myster of the Disappearing Ancestor." For more information and registration (Early Bird special until April 4) please see www.OGS.org under the 2004 conference brochure link. Saturday, May 15, 2004, 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. POINTers in Person Chapter 20 will meet in first floor Director's Room of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, 4400 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213-4080. Free and open to the public. "Evaluating Sources on the Internet" will be presented by Elissa Scalise Powell, CGRS and will discuss how to best determine what you find is fact or fiction. 3. Now I was checking my Fulmer information and came upon a mistake that I might have made. I said Dorothy Brandon married a Ray Fulmer. When I came across a note in the newspaper about the marriage, the name was Roy Fulmer. I was sent a family photo before that said his name was Ray and now I find there was a Ray and a Roy. The photo is up on Treasures family files: http://www.pa-roots.com/~treasures/pa/trees/fulmer/ I thought that was the photo of my Aunt but I never saw her. I would like to correct the error or if it not my family, I would like to know. I found a Roy Fulmer also on the 1930 Census and since the newspaper said a Roy married Dorothy in 1923, I expect this is them. I never knew my Aunt but know that she had about 8 children and one named Clair and Betty . Raymond on the 1930 census was 19 and father Martin. The photo of Ray, Max and Dorothy as children came from the house of a granddaughter of my Aunt, so maybe cousins that I have gotten mixed up. Only first names on this photo and no names on the rest to help me figure this out. 1930 census Fulmer Roy head 24 Dorothy wife 22 (can't be sure as hard to read I thought my Aunt Dorothy was born about Nov1906) Alberta 6 Betty 4 /12 Clair 3 Elinor 1 1/2 Anyone out there know the Fulmer family? Elaine -------Original Message------- From: PAINDIAN-L@rootsweb.com Date: Sunday, February 15, 2004 11:02:34 To: PAINDIAN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [INDIANA] Fulmer researchers I have received from a cousin some of her family photos. Though she is related to me by Dorothy Brandon , half sister to my father, I think most of the photos are from the Fulmer family. One photo was a large group photo taken in the early 1900s. Dorothy's husband was Raymond Fulmer. I found the 1930 census for this family and found his father was Martin, mother's name starts with an M and looks like it could be Myrtel A. (e before the l) Children listed are Raymond, Glen, Dorothy, Max and Paul Fulmer. I would appreciate help in naming these people in the group. If you think you might know anyone in the photo, I would send a copy. I have several more photos-- one before 1900 that probably is a Fulmer also. 3. This came across the Bedford list. Since our Bartlebaughs and many others first lived in Bedford Co., I thought there could be a chance someone on this list might have a connection. Elaine -------Original Message------- From: Marjorie Bridges Date: Saturday, February 14, 2004 21:06:27 To: PABEDFOR-L@rootsweb.com Subject: McCoy, McGown, Jordan, Downs I discovered a notebook that is falling apart in my grandmother's house before we sold it (Tyrone, PA). I think it was written in the 1920s by a lady who had some connection with a Tempelton family. It was a school notebook at first, then held her handwritten recipes, and then notes about people who died or had something happen to them. It needs to be properly transcribed, but I made a quick stab at this lady's "family tree." She never mentions her own name or her mother's name. I am hoping that someone who reads this will recognize the family and provide me with that information. Can you identify this family? "My great grandma was Catherine Ebber Corlmie (sp?) who married Jas. McGown. My grandma was Ann McGown who married first to a McCoy (children of whom were Mathew, Ed, Helen). Helen married Jas. Downs, was only married six months, had one child after his death, called Jas. Downs. She (this Helen McCoy Downs) then married 5 years later to Robert Jordan and had William, Cashing?, and mother, two died in infancy. William Jordan born June 5, 1818, died Apr. 6, 1906. He had 3 daughters, Harriet Hicks, Amanda Painter, has 11 children, Elizabeth Heldsma? who had 5 children. Notation: Ann died at the age of 7.(I don’t know if this was a 4th daughter or related to one of the children of Amanda or Elizabeth.) Mrs. McGown came to this country 1801, grandma was 11 years old when they came. There was 4 children Nellie, Bertie, Sam and grandma. Ann was the youngest. Nellie married Sam Jordon, Ann married Robert Jordan. Sisters married brothers. Ann married McCoy at the age of 16. Mrs. McGown was 3 months on the water & wish they never moved. Landed in Philadelphia. Was 400 on the boat. Mrs. McGown died 1835 age 102. Her husband died 18 months after coming in and settling in Carlisle. Came from County Tyrone, Ireland. Marketed 4 miles to Eniskillen. Robert Jordan died 1834. Horse kicked in the head, died from the effects in 5 days. Elizabeth was 5 years old. Grandma McGown was not sick. Asked to have her staff left at the head of the bed—died the next day—Mathew McCoy married Miss Gates a sister of Mart (Mort?) Gates of Colerain? Forge. Went to Ohio, was a driver, had 10 children. So this is what I get from that: 1-1. James McGown m. Catherine Ebber Cormie? died 1835, aged 102? James died ca 1803 at Carlisle. They were born in County Tyrone, Ireland, "4 miles from Eniskillen." 2-1. Nellie McGown m. Sam Jordan, brother of Robert Jordan 2-2. Bertie McGown 2-3. Sam McGown 2-4. Ann McGown b. 1790, came to USA in 1801 when 11, m. McCoy ca 1806 3-1. Mathew m. _____Gates, sister of Mart/Mort Gates, went to Ohio, was a driver by occupation, had 10 children. 3-2. Ed McCoy 3-3. Helen McCoy m. (1) Jas. Downs, died after 6 mo. married (2) Robert Jordan who died in 1834, 5 days after being kicked in head by a horse. 4-1. James Downs, born after his father died 4-2. William Jordan b. 5 June 1818, d. 6 Apr 1906. 5. Harriet Jordan m. ____Hicks 5. Amanda Jordan m. ____ Painter 11 children 5. Elizabeth Jordan m. ____Heldsma? 5 children 4-3. Cashing? Jordan, b. bef. 1834 4-4. writer’s mother, not identified, b. bef 1834 might have married a Templeton 4-5. two died in infancy I inserted that about Templeton because there are an awful lot of Templeton births and deaths in the book. Any clues welcome. Probably they are not related to me, but I am curious why it was in my grandma Clara Seeger Bowser's possession. 1. [INDIANA] UBER, Lincoln Otto & PEARSON, Sara Asenath
    2. djaquiss
    3. Does some kind soul (SKS) know the whereabouts of the family genealogy / history research done by Lincoln Otto 1913-1996 & Sara Asenath 1919-1999 (Pearson) Uber and/or their descendants? It is our understanding from contact with them before they both died that they had done quite a bit of family and cemetery research but had lent or passed it on to another family member. Lincoln Otto Uber & Sara Asenath Pearson were 4th cousins 1 generation removed, as well as, husband and wife. Their common ancestors being Johannes Peter and/or Georg & Anna Maria (Zeigler) Uber. Which is ironical since Sara and I am also 4th cousins once removed and Lincoln and I are 4th cousins twice removed. If SKS has any information about this Uber/Urey Cribbs/Pearson family and/or any ideas about where, how and what to research please contact me on or off list. I know quite a bit about the Uber's and the Pearson/Pierson's but need to learn about the Urey's and Cribbs'. If SKS is interested in exchanging information please do contact me. Hope SKS can help us find either Lincoln & Sara Uber's research and/or their family. Thanks in advance (TIA) Deborah in the suburbs of Washington, DC, USA
