I need some help, and I'm wondering if I can get a volunteer to do some checking for me. I live in Michigan, and just can't run down to Indiana, PA to check this. ( Someday I want to make a trip down there to do some research, and to see what the area looks like.) It's very important to me to see if a Samuel Gibson is located on the 1856 Peelor Map of Indiana Co., PA. He would be found in Cherryhill Twp. I've been told that the ICHS has this map, but it is rarely, if ever opened. This map is also on display at the IUP. Is it possible to have a volunteer zip over and take a look at that map, and maybe draw a sketch, or digital photo, to show the location of Samuel Gibson? The IUP internet site has this map posted, but when downloaded, the names of people are not clearly readable. I will pay someone their time, gas money, and even lunch, if they could do this for me. Hopefully, this will satisfy me untill I can get a readable copy of the map, or see it in person. Thank you very much. Gary T. Gibson

Looking for an update on the Robert Tonkin house in Cherry Tree. Plans were being discussed to turn the house into a museum and/or perhaps a town Library. Has anyone heard any news? Marcia Fronk

This item appeared in the Greensburg Daily Tribune of November 9, 1909: FATAL ACCIDENT TO TWO MEN IN INDIANA MINE Failure to place a sufficient number of posts under the workings in a room of No. 3 mine at Graceton is given as the cause of an accident there last Saturday afternoon that cost the lives of two men. The dead: JOHN H. FAITH, aged 42 years and married, leaving a wife and six children. JOHN REBAVICH, a Slav, aged 27 years and single. Faith worked in the Graceton mines five years, but of late he had been employed at a mine at Blairsville, returning to Graceton on Friday. The props for his room were delivered, but it was learned after the accident that all had not been placed. The bodies of Faith and Rebavich were brought to the surface, a distance of 2,000 feet, and taken to a side track from where they were removed to their home. Coroner James S. Hammers, of Indiana, visited the mine Saturday evening, going to Graceton in his automobile. He viewed the bodies of the dead men, talked with a number (of men) who had been at work that day and decided that as death had been accidental, no inquest would be necessary. Mine Inspector Roger Hampson of Punxsutawney spent Monday at Graceton. John H. Faith formerly resided in Indiana. He is a son of "Tip" Faith, who had lived in Greensburg for some years past, and is remembered as "Young Tip." The funeral was held at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the Lutheran church at Coral, the services being conducted by Rev. Shaffer of Homer City. Bill in Ohio

Randy, I am Leona Henderson and I have found several census records for Brice Henderson--none of them from Cumberland Co, however. If you have seen the two Brice Hendersons in Indiana county and they aren't the right one, then what I have will probably not be of any help. I can let you know the names of wives and children if you need them. With help from others.. I found a little more information on FamilySearch.org... but it was essentially what I knew. The Brices in my line were Brice, born 1830 in Elderton Armstrong County, married Nancy Clark and then married Martha Jane Woodward, some of the children of Brice and Nancy were William Lester and Anna. Brice born( says born 1792) married to Susan Thomas. There would appear to be generation in between. That's what I know at this point. Thanks for your interest.. I have more information on the descendants of Brice (1830) if you or others are looking. -----Original Message----- From: Randy Cowser [mailto:rcowser@globaleyes.net] Sent: Friday, April 09, 2004 10:50 AM To: PAINDIAN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [INDIANA] Henderson, Laughlin and Rankin Families Bill, Do you have any other information about Brice such as parents of children?
