In fact, on this particular page, it urges you to bookmark the site so you can directly return there during this free week's demo. http://libraryweek.galedemo.com/portal.htm One thought ....the site may require you to put a cookie on your computer. Do you have cookies turned on? I certainly wasn't trying to frustrate anyone, but the links are working for me. Sue

    3. Hi, I am trying to find out more about this family, living in Green, Indiana Co., at the time of the 1860 census: Julius Sears, 53 Mary S., 49 Edward J., 24 Lucinda B, 18 Milan, 15 Simeon, 83 All were born in Massachusetts. There is a family of Simons also living in the household. Simeon is thought by some to have died in 1864, and may be buried somewhere in Green. He is the onl I am primarily interested in. Is anyone tracking this family? Regards, Muffy Moore

    3. I thought I had that book, but don't. What I do have is The Indiana County Sesquicentennial Souvenir Program 1953. Is there anything I might be able to look for you in that? The years covered are 1803-1953, and gives history and early settlers names, occupations, formation of the townships, when the boroughs were laid out, etc. Some photos, sketches, and ads from the sponsors as well. 3. Thanks Ken - - If the 1856 is that large on CD (and I don't doubt it) it wouldn't be practicable for me to put it on the NET full size. Since I am going to get it anyway there might be a couple of solutions 1) put in on in reduced size so that indivials could see what it looks like and 2) MAYBE put in n FULL size in 8 or 10 CHUNKS with an index showing which section to look at for a particular name, etc... We'll have to see. In any event, I'll copy it to CD's and anyone who wants a copy can get it from me for the Mailing charge - - I can't see everyone paying for a copy when it only needs to be done once. I;ll put it on the mailing list when I get it.. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ken McCrea" <Ken@GermanNames.com> To: <PAINDIAN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, April 20, 2004 7:48 AM Subject: [INDIANA] Re: 1817 Map > --=======D17591D======= > Content-Type: text/plain; x-avg-checked=avg-ok-6F769B5; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed > Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit > > > > Now from what I've read about that Whiteside map, I believe that it > >also shows the property owners within the Township. I have a scan of the 1817 Indiana County Whiteside map that the PA State Archives made for me. The map does not show land owners, but does show a few of the blockhouse/fort locations. The map is quite a bit smaller than the 1856 map, but the file size is still very large - about 50 MB. The lettering is quite small and if the file is reduced much in size, it probably won't be readable. You wouldn't want to download it without a cable modem. A good scan of the 1856 map would have a much larger file size. To distribute the maps, they will probably need to be reprinted or put on CD. Ken McCrea Stevens, PA --=======D17591D=======--
