She was born in 1833. First child was born 1854 1850 Census might give you your answer, but I'll bet if she was married to King it was after 1862 By the way, Mary Cresswell is Annie Evans daughter not her sister. Annie Evans Jeffrey also had a daughter Annie who was married to a Fleming.

    3. Does anyone know if the IUP library has records for Indiana Normal? Also looking for "catalogs" which was apparently the name for class yearbooks. I recently saw one for 1914 on ebay. I am researching: George, Fonner, Sharp, Robinson, McMillen and Woods. Some of these originating on the Indiana/Armstrong county border...Shelocta/Elderton region. Thanks, Peggy

Serenia is mentioned in Hester's obituary, as "Serenia Jenkins of Bellflower" attended the funeral. I am willing to share any additional information that I have - including the parents and siblings of Serenia and Hester Shivlar.

It was part of a divorce case between Anna Thompson and Horace Thompson. I hope it helps any of you Silvis researchers! "Declaration for Pension of Children under Sixteen Years of Age" Sept. 25th, 1889 ....J.K. Thompson, M.D., a resident of Marion Borough, County of Indiana, in the State of Pennsylvania, aged 65 years,......is the legal guardian of EDWIN FORREST SYLVIS, legitimate child of JONAS SYLVIS, who enlisted under the name of JONAS SYLVIS on the 30th day of August, 1862 (in) Company E, 67th Pa. Volunteers, in the War of the Rebellion, who died at Indiana, Pa, on th 22d day of April, 1882, and who bore at the time of his death the rank of Corporal, in the service aforesaid. That he left a widow surviving; Anna M. Sylvis who was remarried to J.K. Thompson on the 6th day of March, 1889. That the above named only surviving legitimate child of said Jonas Sylvis who was under sixteen years of age at the time of his death of whom that said child were the issue of said soldier as follows, the date of birth being as hereinafter stated: Edwin Forrest Sylvis, of soldier by Anna M. Sylvis, born Jan. 15th, 1878. That the father was married under the name of JONAS SYLVIS, to ANNA M.
