As for the layout of the cemetery I think read somewhere it was divided into sections, but it was church related. The Good's are buried there but I think they are scattered, no certain order. As for the different sections now, there is no certain order. I have had people from other states relaying to me their grandparents were buried in Smicksburg, but unfortunatley i think these are the ones who didn't survive the cemetery move. I have never found stones. I would like to see a copy of the burial records, but I always forget to ask who handles them. Nadine

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UaB.2ACE/3275.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Nadine, Thx for the further info. I just wanted to be reassured that Goodville and it's cemetery were in fact gone and not just perhaps portions of it. I had another source tell me the same thing but she was not so certain about her info. I had walked Smicksburg Cemetery a few months ago but stopped when I found Alberts parents, they were the only ones I thought were there at the time. Looks like I will make one more trip back to see if I can locate Albert. Just for my own information, was Smicksburg Cemetery laid out in any specific order since it is a combination of several other cemeteries like Good ? Thought there might be sections, like the Good section etc etc ? Thx again the the help, it is most appreciatted. David Dublin, Ohio

When the dam was built the main part of Smicksburg was wiped out. Goodville was also taken, there once was a train station and picnic ground there. I have been down thru what was once Goodville(it is on the way to where my aunt lived). There are a few houses left, but nothing else. If i found more i will let you know. Nadine

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UaB.2ACE/3275.1.1 Message Board Post: Nadine, Thx for the info. I have been to Smicksburg Cemetery ( just a month ago) and was aware it was a combination of several other cemeteries. I am seeking the grave of my great uncle Albert C WEIR, he died in March of 1907 at age 14. His parents were later buried in Indiana CTY and later removed to Smicksburg Cemetery at it's inception. It sounds like I should perhaps have looked further at Smicksburg Cemetery, I stopped when I found his parents as I knew they were there somewhere, thought that was all that were buried there. Alberts death certificate simply states burial in Goodville. If Good Cemetery was in Goodville perhaps it was combined with Smicksburg as well.I am still uncertain though about this. I have been told that Goodville was located in Northeastern West Mahoning CTY, looking at a map of the area it seems a bit far to move a cemetery from there to Smicksburg. I guess I need to find a map that shows where Goodville is or once was and what if any cemeteries existed there. Thank you for the help and suggestion that it may have been combined with Smicksburg Cemetery, I had never considered that thought. Failing any further help from others I will go back to Smicksburg and search the entire cemetery. Thx again David Dublin, Ohio

Not sure when this was, no records are found for Good Cemetery. So I am not sure who was even buried there. Next time I am in Smicksburg I will ask if anyone knew of this cemetery. Sincerely, Nadine P.S --If this is the same cemetery, the orginal Smicksburg cemeteries were combined and moved in 1941. Unfortunately not all the stones survived the move.

    3. Hello David, The Good Cemetery which was at Goodville was moved to Smicksburg, I think at the same time that all the Smicksburg Cemeteries were moved and combined together. This was about 1942 when they were building the Dayton Dam for flood control. Goodville was on the back road from Smicksburg through the Loop up to North Point, not far from the Big Mahoning Creek. There is nothing there today.
