Lydick, 1831-1911 and Elizabeth Strong Lydick 1831-1891) and Joanna Long Lydick. I have a copy of her obituary...I assume that the Sydney born in 1859 was her niece. I've been hitting a brick wall for the longest time regarding the Long surname attached to my great grandmother Joanna. The Byers name was never mentioned as well as the Long name in family conversation. My paternal grandmother was Lonie Holmes Lydick and I've also been hitting walls concerning her mother Ida McCullough Holmes...I have Lonie's family bible dated 1923 presented by mother Lydick with obituaries of her father, Robert, sister Gertrude and brother Ross but no mention of her mother who is presumed to have died in 1913 along with her daughter Hulda...there is another sister by the name of Bertha Holmes who was married to a Mr. Coy and Mr. Wolfe but I can't seem to find any i! nformation on her either other than her name listed as an executor of my great grandfathers' estate in 1925. Thanks for your time and help and any other information you may have would be greatly appreciated. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: RMurray99 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.indiana/6252/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have a Sidney Byers, daughter of John Philip Byers, 1808-1899, and Barbara Ann Lydick, 1814-1881. She was born 27 Mar 1841 and died 19 Apr 1913, buried Howearth/Sample Run Cemetery. She his listed as Byers in the cemetery, thus she may not have married. I have not found her in the census records between 1870 & 1900. In 1910 there is a Sydney Byers, aged 69, listed as mother-in-law with Elmer & Corina Lydick, in Cherryhill twp. She is listed as single. There is another Sydney Byers, 22 Oct 1859 - 27 Jan 1939. She was the daughter of John Philip Byers, 1836-1909, and Jane Lydick, 1837-?. I have this Sydney Byers married to Marshall McDurmott in 1877. In 1880 Marshall & Sydney live in Rayne Twp, next to John and Jane Byers. They have two children, Emma, 3 and John 1. In 1900 Marshall McDermott is listed in Brushvalley Twp. without Sydney, with two children, Anna, 16 & Mary E., 8. What happened to Emma & John? Marshall is listed as married not widowed. In 1900 there is a Sydney Byers, 43, Mar 1857 listed as a servant to Jacob Lydick in Cherryhill Twp. She is listed as single with one child, who is not listed with her. I suspect that this is the 1841 Sydney with an incorrect age listed. I do not think that this Sydney Byers is the 1859 Sydney Byers McDermott since she appears to have kept the McDermott name and was buried as such. This is all somewhat confusing and I may have mode some bad connections in the above. If so let me know. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
