Hi, Here are a few more of my unknown Ragers. This will be the last posted until the end of the month; real busy this week for Holy Week activities and leaving next Monday for a few days visit in PA and then on to Indiana to stay with my mother-in-law while her daughter and husband take a week's vacation. But I will be posting when we return. On Tuesday, May 20th, Rev. Lewis Hay united in marriage John M. Brown and Miss Mary C. Rager, both of Strongstown. (Indiana Weekly Messenger 1902 May 28.) ----------------------------------------------- John J. Rager John J. Rager, aged 89 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Theodore Snyder, in Blairsville, Monday, January 20. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, by the Rev. William J. Bucher. He leaves these children: Mrs. Robert Dunlap, Mrs. Margaret Cobes, Mrs. Thomas Lowry, Mrs. Theodore Snyder, Mrs. Samantha Rich and Mrs. W.A. Myers of Blairsville; and Mrs. George Wagner, of Greensburg. One sister, Mrs. Lucinda Rager, of Blacklick township, also survives. --------------------------------------------- GEORGE RAGER George Rager died at the Homeopathic hospital, Pittsburgh, Wednesday, April 5, aged 40 years. Funeral services were held at the residence of his sister, Mrs. W.F. Mabon, on South Liberty street, Blairsville, at 2 o'clock, Thursday afternoon, by Dr. N. G. Miller, and interment made in Blairsville cemetery. He was a son of the late Joseph Rager and is survived by his mother, two brothers and two sisters. ------------------------------------------- Rager-Elliott Blaine Rager and Miss Grace Ellott, both of Blairsville, were married at Kittanning on April 16, by Rev. Howard E. Lloyd. The groom is a son of Mrs. and Mrs. Martin Rager and the bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Elliott, of Blairsville. (Indiana Weekly Messenger, 1931 April 23.) ------------------------------------------ RAGER TURNED OVER TO UNCLE SAM Will Be Tried in United States Court for Using Mails to Defraud. Hugh Rager, of Centerville, this county, who was arrested on January 23, on a charge of blackmail, has been turned over to the United States authorities to answer a charge of using the mails to defraud. Deputy Marshall Owens, of Pittsburg, came here Wednesday, secured Rager and took him to Johnstown, where he was given a hearing before the postal authorities at which he was held for trial. He was taken to Pittsburg the following morning. Rager is said to have mailed a letter to Ephriam G. Neeley, charging him with burning the Stevens home at Centerville some time ago and demanding a sum of money as the price of his silence. This is all for now. Martha -- RESEARCHING: Edwards; Fronk; Miller; Paul; Pfoutz; Rager; Campbell Life should Not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming... Update- I just received another e-mail off the list that provided me with a lot of new information of my John Hart. His parents were William and Margaret living at Surgeons Hall, Jefferson Township, Allegheny County in 1870, right near Pine Run Creek. Thanks to all, and especially to W. Martin Keck for tremendous response to my query! Yo! Sharon; Where can I find names of burials? Are they on the computer? I'm looking for Wayne Wolford died about 2002. Hi Marjorie, My info came from a book called Westmoreland County, 27 Cemeteries, 1970,compiled by Della Reagan Fischer (PR 393F) that I found in the Greensburg- Hempfield Area Library: 724-837-5620. You can also find this book at the Westmoreland Historical Society: 724-836-1800. However, that book would be "ancient" history. Have you tried contacting the area newspapers? I will be in PA over Easter but doubt that I would have time to look in the cemetery for you. However, if I find the time, I will do so. Do you have any other details on this person? Good luck with your research. Sharen/Ohio ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

Hi Suzanne, Find Pittsburgh, PA on the map. Route 380 runs E/W. Take 380 East. Exit onto Route 66 North. Pine Run Road will be 1-2 miles north on Route 66. If you come to Route 356, you have gone too far. Pine Run Road will be on the left. There is a police station on the right. It's a rural road. Once on Pine Run Road, there is a church on the left probably less than a mile or two from Route 66. The cemetery is behind it. It, too, is small. The city address for the cemetery is Apolla, PA. According to Mapquest, it is about 32 miles east of Pittsburgh and 44 minutes travel time. Taking 380 would not be the quickest way to go. I was just using that as a reference point. If you need more specific directions and don't want to use Mapquest, let me know and I can direct you. I have ancestors buried in the cemetery. I live in OH but was born and raised in PA, not too far from this site. Sharen/Ohio ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

Suzanne, Pine Run is the name of a stream or creek in Westmoreland County. The source of Pine Run is located in Washington Township then flowing through Alllegheny Township to empty into the Kiskiminetas River at a point down stream from and near to Vandergrift. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Suzanne" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, March 30, 2007 9:54 AM Subject: Re: [PAINDIAN] John A.
