Author: emschenk Surnames: Bartlebaugh Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.indiana/6296.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I visited this old school that is still standing in Montgomery Twp. Indiana Co. Working with a Pittman researcher, we found some deeds that showed us that this building could be on a land grant to Mathias Bartlebaugh then sold to a Pittman. Mathias's daughter married a Pittman. The photo with the children came from the Pittman researcher. It probably was taken shortly after 1884 we think because there is the date 1884 at the very top of the building. You could see a little white paint still under some of the eves but the wood is now a beautiful dark brown. If anyone has any information about this school, I would love to hear from them. The school had been used as a repair shop sometime not long ago but looked like it was not in use at present. I heard the person that owned the land was ill and had been for awhile. I wish it could be restored Elaine Bartlebaugh-Schenk Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I'm 49yrs old and most of my paternal family is gone now and the few relatives my sister questioned years ago who are old enough to remember claim they had no clue as to what she was talking about. it's probably futile to try to find the baby but sometimes my curiosity gets the best of me! again, thanks for all your help and time...and please keep in touch if you find anything else out regarding bertha's death or her son robert d. wolfe, i'd love to know more about them.
