I am curious about any information you have that may verify their relationship and about their father. I've not been able to find evidence confirming John as James' father. Recently, I have hit a brick wall trying to track James back beyond what is written in a History of Clearfield Co. I would be happy to share what information I have (although, from the threads to your posting I see you have already been in touch with Rich Gralnek who has also given me info) on my line.
