Here are obits for 1/29/03: Marion Ralph "Mike" LEIDY Jr., 53, of Shirleysburg, R.R. 1, died at 10:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Aug. 4, 1949, in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Marion R. Sr. and Velta "Kate" (Hoffman) Leidy. He was united in marriage to the former Connie McMullen Oct. 19, 1968. Mrs. Leidy survives at their home. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Michael (Pamela) Cramer. Mount Union, RR. 1. One granddaughter survives. There are 14 nieces and nephews. Four brothers and one sister survive; Kenneth Leidy, Orbisonia; William E. Leidy Sr., Shirleysburg; David W. Leidy Sr. and Allen L. Leidy Sr., both of HCR 60, Orbisonia; and Tonya Park, Saint Thomas. Mr. Leidy was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 518, Orbisonia; Mount Union Lodge No. 688, Free and Accepted Masons, Mount Union; Juniata Valley Forest No. 88, Tall Cedars of Lebanon and Harrisburg Consistory. Self-employed in the trucking business for the past 23 years, he currently owned Leidy and Daughter Trucking, Shirleysburg. He served as a dispatch agent for Admiral Merchants Motor Freight, Minneapolis, Minn.; Besl Transfer, Cincinnati, Ohio; and Easton Transportation, Channahon, Ill. He was an avid dirt track race fan and enjoyed attending races at Hesston Speedway, Path Valley Speedway and Thunder Valley Speedway. He also especially enjoyed deer hunting. Funeral services will he held at 11 am. Friday, Jan. 31, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, with Pastor Gordon Ross officiating. Interment will be made in the IOOF Cemetery, Rockhill Fumace. David C. CONDRACK Sr., 46, of R.R. 2, Box 165, Mount Union, died at 7:46 am. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, following an extended illness. Born July 21, 1956, in Three Springs, he was a son of the late Michael J. and Joy A. (Lane) Condrack. He is survived by one son. David C. Condrack Jr. of Lewistown. There are three grandchildren. Four siblings survive; Stephen J. Condrack, Piscataway, N.J.; Cathy M. Grove, Mount Union, R.R. 2; LeRonda A. Boden, Rockhill Furnace; and Robert E. Condrack, Mount Union. Mr. Condrack was of the Christian faith. He attended schools in Allenport and Mount Union. Most recently, he was employed by Mount Union Borough. From 1992-2002, he was caretaker of the Mount Union Cemetery. He had also worked at the cemetery as caretaker under different management for a total of over 20 years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and camping. He was most proud of his sons service in the U.S. Marine Corps and who is currently serving with the National Guard, scheduled for duty in Kosovo in March. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Friday, Jan. 31, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, 61 E. Shirley St., Mount Union. with Pastor Judy Rowles officiating. Interment will be made in the Mount Union Cemetery. Margaret "Peg" SLAGLE, 85. of Honey Grove, RR. 1, died Monday afternoon, Jan. 27, 2003, at Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia. Born March 16, 1917, in Fayette Township, Juniata County. she was a daughter of the late William and Bertha (Smith) Kreider. She was married to William S. Slagle, who preceded her in death July 17, 1983. She is survived by two sons and five daughters; Jacob H. Fulkroad, address unknown; William S. Slagle Jr., Mifflintown, R.R. 5; Anna Hutchinson, HCR 67, Mifflin; Faye Naugle, Shade Gap, Virginia Arentz, Honey Grove, R.R. 1; Byrl "Susie" Maize, East Waterford. R.R. 1; and Bertha Peck, Chambersburg. There are 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren, 18 step great-grandchildren and four step great-great-grandchildren. One brother, Ralph Kreider of McAlisterville, survives. She was preceded in death by seven brothers, four sisters, two grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at the South Juniata Baptist Church.
