    3. Here are obits for 1/28/03: Willis N. BRUNGARD, 77, of Mapleton, R.R. 1, died at 5:15 am. Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at his Union Township home. Born July 27, 1925, at his family home in Mapleton, Union Township, he was a son of the late Newton and Emma (Willis) Brungard. He was united in marriage to the former Jean Wagner Oct. 28, 1956, at the Center Union Church. Mrs. Brungard survives at their home. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Michael (Patricia E.) Everhart of Huntingdon and one granddaughter, Emili Jane Everhart of Huntingdon. His brother, William Brungard of Huntingdon survives. One sister, Ida C. Foster, preceded him in death. Mr. Brungard was a member of Mapleton United Methodist Church. He was a member of Standing Stone Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1754, Huntingdon; American Legion Post No. 322, Mapleton; the National Rifle Association; Bricktown Senior Citizens and Standing Stone Senior Citizens. He graduated from Mount Union Area High School with the Class of 1940. A staff sergeant with the United States Army in the Pacific Theater of operations during World War II, he was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Army of Occupation Medal (Japan) and the World War II Victory Ribbon. In 1984, he retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas following 40 years of service. A lifetime resident of Mapleton, Union Township, he was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed woodworking, farming and reading. He also loved spending time with family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, 207 Ridge Road, Smithfield Township, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Edwin D. Seeley officiating. Interment will be made in the IOOF Cemetery, Mapleton, where full military honors will be accorded at graveside. Theodore W. BEATTY, 90, of 37 Brooks Drive, Ormond Beach. Fla., died Friday Jan. 17, 2003, at Ormond Memorial Hospital, Ormond Beach, Fla. A former resident of Petersburg, he had resided in Ormond Beach for 23 years. He was horn Sept. 2, 1912. He was united in marriage to the former Florence G. Barr May 29, 1936. at the First Methodist Church, Huntingdon. with the Rev. Fields officiating. Mrs. Beatty survives. He is survived by one son and one daughter; Samuel N. Beatty. Petersburg; and Doris Long, Calvin. There are seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Four brothers survive; Cecil Beatty and Leroy Beatty, both of Petersburg; Charles Beatty, Tyrone; and Ken Beatty, Naugatuck, Conn. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister Mr. Beatty, who retired in 1975 after 34 years as a train conductor, moved to Florida following his retirement. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. Ralph L. SINGER Jr., 45, of McConnellsburg, died at 10:40 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, following an extended illness. Born Jan. 18, 1958, at Chambersburg, he was a son of Ralph L. Sr. and Mary (Smith) Singer who survive in Orbisonia. A companion of 15 years, Karen A. Broomfield, survives at their home in McConnellsburg. He is survived by one son, Christopher Fisher of Duncannon; one sister, Cynthia D. Ritchie of Fannettsburg; and one brother, Jeffrey A. Singer of McConnellsburg. One sister, Janice Kay Capps. preceded him in death. Mr. Singer was of the Protestant faith. He had been employed as a construction worker. Funeral services will be held at 11 am. Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with Pastor David Ort officiating.
