She embraced religion when twelve. She had religious, social and intellectual qualities that made her very useful. She was a "bright and shining light" in the Methodist Episcopal Church. She was a great sufferer, but her patience was equally great. When the end came, her experience was unchanged, except the peace grew deeper, the joy fuller and the trust more perfect. Just before death came she said, "I have nothing to depend on but the merits of Christ; his grace is sufficient for me. It is hard to leave my dear ones; but if I am permitted, I will hover about you." Then she asked them to pray that the Lord would take her now, and praying "Jesus take me," she passed gloriously away. Now, in a nobler, sweeter song, she sings God's power to save," S. V. M.
