After paying my funeral expenses and all my debts, I bequeath to my eight (8) children, share and share alike, except to my son Forney for remaining with me after his majority and to compensate him, He shall have One Hundred and fifty (150) Dollars and his choice of one (1) cow, and for this year commencing April 1st 1870, He shall receive one hundred dollars, and no charges made for his working clothes now bought or such as he shall require until April 1871. My two Eldest Daughters shall have the two (one each) Coverlits bought by their mother, my other Daughters to have two quilts or one pair Blankets. Benjamine, my son to have my gun after he arrives at an age in the opinion o! f my executor capable of having it. My three daughters can have if they wish one bed each at the value of Fifteen Dollars each which ammount shall be deducted from their Share of property or Estate. It is my desire that my family remain where and as they are (should it be the will of God to removed me from Earth previous) to April 1871. My son Forney to attend to and have charge of the Farm, Stock and c. under the controle of my Executor. If in case he should not do all to his Satisfaction, he shall have someone else to take his place to remain with and care for the family. When my property (not herein specified) shall be sold, Forney shall have my Family Bible. I appoint as Guardian for my five minor chidlren, Benjamin F., Katura C., David, Jesse H & George my friend John R. Thompson. I hereby constitute and appoint as my Executor my neighbour Jospeh Mingle. In witness whereof I have Set my hand and Seal this First-day of June A.D. One thousand eight hundred and Sev! enty. Ganoe and Perry Cupp the Subscribing witnesses to the above will and being duly Sworn according to law, did depose and say that they were present and saw and heard Richard Briggs the testator, Sign, Seal, publish, pronounce and declare the foregoing instrument of writing as and for his testament and last will and that at the time of So doing he the Said testator was of perfect and Sound mind, memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge, observation and belief.
