    3. I am trying to prove or disprove our connection to the name Puterbaugh and Buterbaugh. I am coming up with more bits of info that show we maybe really a Puterbaugh one generation back from our proven info on the Bartlebaugh and Purtlebaugh families. This means I am working in the 1750s -1770 or so to find the connection. Hope those Butterbaughs can take it if we find they are cousins. Remember there is a story from Clearfield Butterbaughs that they would shoot anyone that called them a Bartlebaugh. Please contact me if you have anything that could help prove or disprove this or want to help research. Though no sold record but we can probably say that Mathias was son of John Bartlebaugh. Philip Bartlebaugh was probably a brother of John and stayed in Bedford/Blair County after John left to come to Indiana. William from Johnstown Pa area probably was a son of this Philip we found born about 1770-80. No info yet if born in Virginia like John and Mathias Bartlebaugh. Philip's line has a Draper Bartlebaugh. The first name Draper maybe a clue to a connection to the family Draper Puterbaugh . Name Age in1880 Estimated Birth Year Birthplace Relation to head-of-house MaritalStatus Race Gender Home in 1880 (City,County,State) Census Draper PUTERBAUGH 36 <1844> Pennsylvania Self Married White Male Plains, Luzerne, wife Harriet and 7 children listed Would like to know more about William Puterbaugh who moved to Dakota Territory and on 1880 census said he was born in 1895 in Virginia and listed his father was born in Virginia also. This is the Wm Puterbaugh who was in Canada for awhile. I appreciate all info and any help. Elaine Bartlebaugh-Schenk schenk.bartlebaugh@wanadoo.nl
