    3. Margie, several years ago I xeroxed warrants and survey maps from our courthouse here in Bedford. I got a big laugh out of the name Roop because they had surveys or warrants for every member of the family and there were so many of them. If I remember correctly all the land was in Southampton Co in the very south of Bedford Co. If you look at the Pioneer hist. Soc webpage they have a look-up service which might give you a complete list of all the Roops among those xeroxes. In an Orphan Court document, the land description is: > "And that the said Intestate died seized in his demesne as of fee, of [???] in a certain tract of lands Situate in Hopewell township, near Tatmans Gap, adjoining lands of James Entrikin Esq. The mountain surveys containing two hundreds and thirty six acres and ten perches, be the same more or less. Thereon erected a two story hewed log house, a good hewed log shop one story high, a weavers shop one story high, a cabin barn, about one hundred & fifteen acres cleared thereon, eight of which is meadow, also an orchard thereon, & praying for an Inquest to make partition or valuation of the same agreeably to the intestate laws of this Commonwealth." > > Fredrick was taxed in Union Twp, not Hopewell Twp, from 1810-1834. After Fredrick's death, the land was sold to James Entriken. How can I determine where this land was located? > > Margie Roop Pearce > Genealogy: www.angelfire.com/la/ancestors > > Psalm 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. > > > > > ==== PAHUNTIN Mailing List ==== > Visit the Huntingdon county PaGenWeb site at http://www.rootsweb.com/~pahuntin for information on county resources, cemeteries and other research information. > > ============================== > To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > >
