Surnames: Hamler, Morgan, Carpenter Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZdB.2ACI/3085 Message Board Post: My late father --(John) Kenneth Hamler (1908, Morris Co., NJ-1972, LA, CA)--never knew his older step-brothers and step-sisters because when their mother died, the steps were sent from NJ to live "with relatives in PA." (Plus, I believe the step-siblings were much older than my Dad.) I would like to find the HAMLER descendents of my dad's step-brothers and sisters. The steps would have been born from the marriage of Cornelius ("Corny") Hamler (1850-1913, Sussex Co. NJ) and Hannah ("Annie") Morgan; they married in 1872 in New Jersey. The NJ Census of 1880 showed only two people living in the Cornelius Hamler household: Cornelius, age 29 and Annie, age 17, Hamler. I do believe that the Census-taker miswrote 27 (which Hannah (Morgan) Hamler would have been in 1880). Otherwise, my grandfather had a 3rd wife, Annie, that I am not familiar with! The official record that I have of my Grandfather's first marriage was to "Hannah Morgan" of NJ (not "Annie"--which a "Hannah" could be called). In the NJ Census of 1900, my Grandfather was listed as "a widower, living alone." By 1904, he was having a daughter with my grandmother, Augusta Carpenter (1868-1937, NJ). That daughter would be the first of Cornelius and Augusta's 3 children: Edna (1904-1942); Mildred (1906-1920) and my father, (John) Kenneth Hamler (1908-1972). In case it helps, Cornelius's father, my GGrandfather, was William H. Hamler (1802-1854, Sussex Co., NJ) and my GGrandmother was Noyetta Kindred (1808-1872, Morris and Sussex Co., NJ.) Their children were: 1.) Jehila Hamler Fullington b. 1830, Morris Co., NJ 2.) Isaac Hamler , b. 1832, Sussex Co., NJ 3.) Mary Ann Hamler, b. 1835, Sussex Co., NJ 4.) Sarah R. Hamler, b. 1838, Sussex Co., NJ 5.) William H. Hamler, b. 1839, Sussex Co., NJ 6.) Andrew H. Hamler, b. 1843, Sussex Co., NJ 7.) John Hamler, b. 1845, Sussex Co., NJ 8.) Elijah ("Lige") Hamler, b. 1846, Sussex Co., NJ (Seems to have been Missing in Action during the Civil War where he entered under-age and served as a drummer.) 9.) Cornelius Hamler (1850-1913, Sussex Co., NJ) I am also looking for any and all Hamlers and Hamler-seekers.
