My records indicate that Joshua was born in 1765 and He and Charlotte are buried in the Old School Baptist Cemetary in Silea. Joshuas parents were Joshua Brown 1717-1798 and his Mother was Hannah Gatchell Joshua srs parents were Jeremiaha Brown 1692-1797 and Mary Cole Jeremiahas father was James Brown. One of the founders of Nottingham Lots a Quaker settlement. A web site that tells more is http://www.nottinghamlots org/ look under early settlers. I have copies of Joshua Browns land warrants. Also an interesting biographical article that tells more. All records that I can verify have the spelling of Charlottes last name as Morrison but I haven't been able to find out any thing on her family yet. SUE & Other Joshua Brown researchers, According to the original bible record copy that I have, Charlotte's last name is written Morris. I sure do wish we could find this old bible so we could 'reverify' the information, and what is or is not on the pages. I have to say, I still question this information. I believe the information is correct, but I do question still her last name, and the part about Joshua Brown born in Cumberland, MD. Again, I believe that is true also, just rather or not someone added it later. Does anyone know who actually has in their hands, the old bible???? Also, the part about Joshua Brown & Hannah Gatchell. They just can not be our Joshua Brown's parents. I would love for that to be correct, but the Quaker records and the Probate Records prove otherwise. I think in one of my other postings earlier today, I listed proof that the Joshua Brown that married Hannah Gatchell died in Lancaster County, and his two sons both named Joshua (one of them died young) also both died in Little Brittain, Lancaster County. They are all well documented in the Quaker records and they left Wills. As I was listing my information earlier though, I noticed I had a Joshua Brown b.1752 in MD. that was the son of a Benjamin and Susannah (Randall) Brown. I meant to check this out and haven't yet. Does anyone know anything about this Joshua Brown???
