Subj: [PABLAIR-L] Huntingdon Gazette, 1806 Date: 4/1/2003 6:43:13 AM Central Standard Time From: <A HREF="mailto:RJWNLW65@aol.com">RJWNLW65@aol.com</A> To: <A HREF="mailto:PABLAIR-L@rootsweb.com">PABLAIR-L@rootsweb.com</A> Sent from the Internet (Details) Brigade Orders The Militia of the second Brigade of the County of Huntingdon and that part of Centre, formerly in Huntingdon, will meet with their arms and accouterments in good order and exercise under the direction of their respective officers on the following days of exercise appointed by the law, viz: In companies at their usual places of meeting (appointed by the respective captains, or commanding officers of companies) on the first and second Mondays in October next, and in Regiments, as follows, viz: The 48th Regiment under the command of col. William Postlewaite, will meet at Gaven Clugages's near Bedford Furnace, on Monday the 20th day of October. The 35d Regiment under the command of col. Andrew Henderson, will meet at Huntingdon, on Tuesday the 21st day of October. The 119th Regiment under the command of col. James Entrikein, will meet at Jacob Graff's, in Woodcock Valley, on Wednesday the 22d day of October. The 14th Regiment under the command of col. James Moore, will meet at Mr. Porter's, near Birmingham, on Thursday the 23d day of October. The 58th Regiment late under the command of col. Lazarus Lowry, will meet at Hollidaysburg on Friday the 24th day of October. Captains or commanding Officers of companies, will order and direct the men belonging to their respective companies, to bring Fire locks to the exercise as well at company, as at Regiment meetings; and on their neglect or refusal, to return them as absentees. The Majors will advertise and attend such elections as may be necessary to fill the vacancies in their respective Battalions, and forward the returns so that commissions may be obtained. WILLIAM HENDERSON Brigade Inspector, 10th Divison Sept. 6, 1806 P.M. ---------------------------- CAUTION Whereas the subscriber passed a Note of hand to John Green, conditioned for the sum of thirty Dollars, payable some time the ensuing fall: This is therefore to forewarn all persons from taking an Assignment of said Note, as I am determined not to pay the same unless compelled thereto by Law. THOMAS BROWN Aug. 12, 1806 ---------------------------- Communicated Died-On the 12th instant, in the 46th year of his age, Robert Boggs Esq., one of the Associate Judges of Centre County. Nature had been liberal to him in the bestowment of those qualities which dignify human nature; and may be said exultingly to have imprinted on this piece of her workmanship in strong and legible characters, not to be effaced by any circumstance or in any situation he could be placed--this is a man. ------------------------------------------------- We with pleasure inform the public, that the Bridge across Stone-Creek, below this town, for the building of which John Blair Esq., contracted with the Commissioners, is now completed; and from the plan, soundness of materials, and strength of the workmanship, in a manner which does credit to the contractor. -------------------------------------------- The rain which fell on Sunday last, has done incalculable damage, we understand, to a number of Farmers on Shavers-creek, by washing the surface off new sown fields and sweeping away fences. ----------------------------------- NOTICE All persons indebted to the estate of Alexander Enis, late of Shavers-creek Settlement, deceased, are requested to come forward on or before the first day of November next and make payment.
