I have recently learned that Joshua Brown was included in Africa, Page 362 [1883] And I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to look it up for me. Thank you so much for your help. Sue sbrowand@pa.net
Also on Page 363 from the book "History of Huntingdon & Blair Counties"/J. Simpson Africa says "Maddensville...............There was at that time an old saw-mill half a mile up the Little Aughwick, with a small clearing around that and the house of Mr. Brown." that is all in that paragraph. Then on another paragraph it says "Among the early settlers in the vicinity of Maddensville was Joshua Brown, who owned a tract of land up the little Aughwick Creek, now owned by the Madden brothers. Mr. Brown died in the fore part of 1882, aged ninety years." (this was apparently referring to Joshua Brown Jr., son of our Joshua Brown & Charlotte Morris who died September 17, 1884 at about 85 years old.) I am still working on compiling a database of all of the 'Quaker' Browns of Lancaster & Chester Counties in Penn., to see if there are any men that might be of age to have had a son named Joshua Brown (who might be father to our Joshua), other than the 4 we already know of that are definitely not ours which include Joshua Brown married Hannah Gatchell & his son Joshua Brown who died in Little Brittain in 1823. I have found that there are quite a few men, that are the age of the parents of our Joshua Brown, and I can't find lists of children for them. Possibly one of them had a son Joshua, but it is not listed in the local Quaker records that I have found so far???? If anyone is interested in this, I can send them the GEDCOM of what I have so far. hope this helps.
