Hi all, I'm looking at another of the children of William WATERS & Katie STILLWELL as outlined in "The Waters Family" article that was written by S.D. Caldwell and published on the front page of the Mount Union Times, 22 March 1907. The article mentions their sixth child, Abbie Waters [b. ca. 1790] who "married John WARD, who lived on the Mathias Shoop farm first owned by Thomas Murphy. Ward was his step-son. John hanged himself and is buried in the Shade Gap Presbyterian cemetery. When the writer was a small boy he remembers peering curiously through a fence whoich was said to enclose the grave of John Ward, the suicide. There are so many now-adays who prefer that way of going that their graves are no curiosity any more, and they do not take the trouble to fence them up. Questions: 1.) Does this fence-in grave still exist at the Shade Gap Presbyterian Church cemetery? 2.) Are their any WARD researchers who have John in their data? I'd love to hear from any of you who have stray WATERS/WATTERS in Huntingdon or Blair counties. Kathryn Doyle Piedmont, CA
