Hello Researchers! I'm new to this list. In 1870 Carbon Twp., Huntingdon county, PA, my ancestors were in the census. Coates, Charles: age 30, b. England -----Ellen: age 30, b. England -----William: age 6, b. PA -----Fanny: age 5, b. PA -----James: age 3, b. PA -----Henry: age 1, b. PA Owen, Ellen: age 14, b. England At first I assumed that Ellen was a lodger, but now I find that Ellen Coates' mother was married before in England & that Ellen's half-siblings lived with them in Bilston, Stafford, England - Enoch & Mary Owen. Now I wonder if Ellen Owen was a relative of Ellen Coates. She could have been the daughter of Enoch Owen, Ellen's half-brother. BTW: Ellen Coates' maiden name was Taylor. Her father was John Taylor & mother was Fanny Owen-Taylor (maiden name not known). The Coates in this 1870 census moved to Ohio by the 1880 census. Anyone researching these names?
