    3. Hi Bea, My George Wm Mitchell was married to Florence B. Shipton born in 1878, and died in 1942.George was the son of Josiah B Mitchell and Elizabeth Wilson. George and Florence has several children, but several of them died very young. The store that he owned is at the intersection of Rt 26 and 305 in McAlevy's Fort. I think they are the correct #'s. It is still there and is owned by Denson Groenendaal. I was there last summer and met with him. He was very helpful and knew some of the Mitchell family. I think he lives in Huntingdon, PA. Another person who may be able to help you is Paul Fagley, who works at Greenwood Furnace. His wife is related to my Mitchells, through the Traxler family. I have more info, if this is your family. If you have the books by James O. Smith, there is info in them . There are 3 books that he wrote, but I've been told there are mistakes in them. I don't have anything about a Stine family. I have been searching for Samuel S Mitchell's parents for quite awhile. Samuel was Josiah's father, and also the father of my great grandfather, James A. Mitchell, who was also born in McAlevy's Fort. There were 8 children in the family. James left there and ended up in Cheltenham, PA., near Philadelphia, after the Civil war. Samuel died in McAlevy's Fort, but nobody knows exactly where he was born. The census says he was born in PA., so I'm checking the counties around Huntingdon Co. I have a George Mitchell on the other side of my family, but he was from Indiana Co. and later moved to Blair Co. He first moved to Carson Valley, and then to Altoona, where he died. He fathered 25 children !!!! There were 2 wives. The first one had 5. She died having the 5th child. The child died also.
