    3. J.W. Houck Porter Township, Huntingdon Co., Pa. Blue Juniata Service Station and Inn: J.W. Houck was born in Clay Township, Sept. 19, 1879. A son of J.B. and Christiana (Rupert) Houck. The mother died in 1906, aged forty-five years. J.W. Houck attended the Meadow Green school, in Clay township, Huntingdon Co., Pa.; has followed farming practically all his life. Farmed in Union Township, Cass and Porter Township; has a farm of eighty-nine acres; has been on this farm for a period of ten years; was supervisor of Porter Township and has served on the election board of Porter and Union Townships. In 1927 he established a garage and in 1928 a tea room, which is tastefully arranged and good service guaranteeed, making it convenient for tourists and the public. He belongs to the Grange of Porter Township. A Republican in politics. Has four sisters: Lennie, married to Fred Parks, Juniata, Blair Co., Pa., deceased; Elda, married to Oscar Mierley, Alexandria, Pa., Della, married to Blaine Lankard, Alexandria, Pa., and Car! rie, married to George Pheasant, Alexandria, Pa. J.W. Houck was married to Laura Smith, a daughter of Martin and Mary Smith. Five sons: Martin, married to Myrtle Gerringer, Williamsburg, Pa.; Carl, married to Dolly Burnette, Hollidaysburg, Pa.; Jay, with the American Telephone and Telegraph Company; Kenneth at home, attending High School, Alexandria, a Junior; Walter, at school. Four daughters: Mary, married to Lynn Ambrose, Huntingdon, Pa.; Dottie, married to Charles Ross, Juniata, Blair Co., Pa.; May and Alene, at school.
