She cannot fit into the family of David and Sara (Adams) McGarvey Baptisms at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Shade Valley, for their children include Samuel Adams McGarvey, born June 20, 1853; Sara Joanna McGarvey, born May 7, 1855; and Amanda Margaret McGarvey, born May 26, 1857. Other McGarvey couples with children baptized in the same church thru the same years are Thomas and Mary; and William and Eleanor. The records are indexed and no child named Harriet appears. Huntingdon Co. Historical Society's library has a McGarvey family file. In it is a typescript (9 pp.) dated 1959, which lists the descendants of Henry McGarvey (1775-1838) who lived in Shirley Township. It appears that all of the McGarvey names posted here from respondents who looked up Hunt. Co. census can be placed in his extended family by using this record... again, no Harriet appears. Perhaps the same person who did not know Harriet's parents' names also was mistaken about her place of birth.
