Samuel O. Garner Marklesburg, Pa. Service Station: The Garners were among the first settlers in this section, around the year 1792. The first Garner deed was from Wm. Penn (The Younger). Samuel O. Garner is a son of Zacariah T. and Rosanna (Treece) Garner. The father of Zachariah Garner died at the age of ninety years, a resident of Penn Township. The father of Samuel O. Garner is still living at Marklesburg, aged eighty-one years. A farmer till 1919. His wife, Rosanna, died in 1928, aged seventy-nine years. Samuel O. Garner was born in Blair County, Pa., October 10, 1884. In Blair County he first acquired his education; remained on farm till age of eighteen; was with the State Highway Department; Westinghouse Company; ran a tractor for the State Highway Department at Williamsburg, Pa.; also at Leechburg, Pa. Established his present business in 1922, a service station, repairing, etc. During the World War was employed at East Pittsburgh with the Westinghouse Company. A member of the I.O.O.F., No.! 445, Martinsburg, Pa,; Mt. Hor Encampment, Huntingdon, Pa.; P.O.S. of A., Camp 516, Martinsburg, Pa., a charter member. Belongs to A.A.A. Is a Republican. One brother, George, married to Margaret Greaser, Blair County, Pa. Two sisters: Bertha, at home; Rachel, married to G.E. Ritchey, Blair County, Pa. Two brothers are deceased; Wilmer, aged nine months; H. Elmer, aged forty-nine eyars. His wife resides at Aitch, Huntingdon County, Pa. Samuel D. Garner was married to Florence Steinbach, a daughter of John C. and Sadie Steinbach, of Philadelphia. Pa.
