It was founded in 1766, but the records (except for the marriages) do not start until 1852. For the marriage records go to the Franklin County genweb site at http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/pa/franklin/church.htm. The earliest marriages start with Rev David Denny in 1794, then a second section is the marriages of Rev Amos McGinley (1804-1852). Be sure to check both sections. The early ministers served not only Fannett twp, but married people from Huntingdon, Juniata and Fulton counties. It is not clear in the records, whether the ministers traveled or whether people came to them from surrounding areas to be married as there was no other place to go at the time. I am cited on the website as having copies of the early records . I am still working at getting them all into a FTM program to make it easier to share with others. Two of the biggest problems are so many people with the same names, and people who used middle or nick names in the records. There are dozens of 'Mac's in the records, which is usually a middle name and stands for anything from McClelland to McVitty. There are no numbers and no indices to the pages of records, so this is the only way that that I could think of to untangle some of the families. I try to crossmatch each name in the church records with the census and cemetery records, plus the three Franklin County histories, but appreciate help from others that are more knowledgeable about individual families So far I have over 20,000 people in my data base, 99% with at least one item of primary information about them. If I ever get this project finished, will post it on a website.
