Listers, All this talk of cemeteries reminds me to suggest that you take another look at >findagrave.com< There are now over 11 million listings and it is a great place to post your gravestone photos or other ancestor information. I have found obituaries and other biographical information there recently -- the site has come a long way since I made my first post in 2000. The best feature is the photo request. In the last month, 3 volunteers have gone to their local cemeteries and taken photos for me. It is a fully searchable site and you can also browse by county. Kathryn Doyle Piedmont, CA
I totally agree with Kathryn's reminder about findagrave.com. Their site is far from a complete listing, but it's an invaluable research aid and has broken down many brick walls for me over the past few years, and also provided me with a few photos of some of my ancestors -- not just gravestone photos, but photos of the people themselves as provided by people/descendents who posted them at findagrave.com. I'm very grateful to people who have taken the time and effort over the years to post information and transcriptions there, and have begun posting some listings of my own there, hoping I can help someone else break down a brick wall as was done for me. I join Kathryn in suggesting everyone add this site to their research links to check regularly, and to add your own listings and participate in any way you feel you can. It really is a great tool to have at our disposal in our family history research. Have a safe and pleasant Independence Day holiday, everyone :) Dawn -----Original Message----- From: Kathryn M.
