Hello list, I am still searching for my ggrandmother, Harriet McGURVEY/McGarvey/etc. and saw something on another list that gives me an idea of another avenue to pursue. An article says that Harriet had a twin sister who was given to a man named JOhn Thompson and they moved west, possibly Iowa. Can anyone tell me if there might be a place where adoption records are kept for the time period of 1854 - 1860? If he legally adopted this twin sister (named Juniata or Susquehanna ?), perhaps there is a record of it somewhere in Huntingdon Co.? Thanks. You have all been a big help to me so far.
