However, there are some problems that should be corrected (some of which I only recently corrected in my research). First of all Mabel definately gave birth to a child Josephine (I believe in her half-brother's house in Altoona). The father was Carl Roarabaugh of Broad Top Tp, Bedford Co.--not far from Clay Tp that the Medlings were living. After the child was born the couple split (never married) and Mabel moved to Johnstown (rather than home near Carl & her siblings). She left the baby with her half-brother (probably Joseph)and married Josiah Leroy Ellsworth in 1913 (marriage ended abt 1926)and then Mabel married Fred Sauers. Back to Josephine: In 1911 Elsie and Charlie Burket had been married several years and could not have children, so when they were visiting the Sipes a couple doors from Joseph's house they went over--ended up taking Josephine--and then moved to Bedford where they raised her as their own [Mabel made occasiona! l visits as "Aunt Mabel]. When Josephine became pregnant (single & age 19)she became very upset and the Burkets told her to relax--it also happened to her REAL mother and confessed the past. Mabel visited Josephine's family many times over the years (my wife, Mabel's granddaughter, met Mabel several times before Mabel moved to Ohio and I have pictures of Mabel and Fred). Plus there is a lot more I could add, but I don't know how much this email can hold. I read somewhere that it will not take an attachment, so if you want to send me your email address I'll send you more of the details. Again, thank you for replying so quickly. Ron Walker (husband of Elsie (Manges)who is the daughter of Josephine who is the daughter of Mabel. My wife was named after Elsie (Sipes) Burket.
