I have a couple of comments that are only meant to be helpful. The newspaper DAILY LOCAL NEWS in Huntingdon published a compilation of the deaths of elderly citizens giving dates of death, at the end of each year, thru much of that time period. Someone could check the copies of those lists that are found at the county historical society's library. Of course, this individual may not be listed at all, or he may not have been considered to have been elderly. I myself have read a good number of death notices from the 1880s, and have rarely seen the parents or siblings of the deceased named, the exceptions being the death of a child, and cases where the parent, or a sibling, was a well-known citizen of the county. That's just the way it was done back then. My advice would be to look for a cemetery marker if you have not already done so. Even finding the year of death would be additional information, and there is always the possibility that the parents or other relatives are buried nearby. ----- Original Message ---- From: Leslie H. I need somebody who has access to the 1880 to 1888 microfilm copies of the Huntingdon county newspaper. With gas prices, it is too much to travel to Huntingdon every week to do research. I am at a dead end in my search of Samuel Kyle. He was last noted in the 1880 census and his wife Christina is listed as his widow in the Huntingdon city directory in 1888. So we know he died between 1880 and 1888. I need some one with a big heart and some time to check the Huntingdon newspapers between those years, for an obit. There are no other records left for information. Samuel lists his parents in the census as being born in PA, I am hoping that his obit will maybe give me his parents names and maybe brothers and sisters, if he had any. His obit is my last hope. There is a link to my family history below. Maybe someone on the list will hold the key. Thanks for any help you can give.
