Hello, I'm hoping somebody can help me out or point me in the right direction. I need somebody who has access to the 1880 to 1888 microfilm copies of the Huntingdon county newspaper. With gas prices, it is too much to travel to Huntingdon every week to do research. I am at a dead end in my search of Samuel Kyle. He was last noted in the 1880 census and his wife Christina is listed as his widow in the Huntingdon city directory in 1888. So we know he died between 1880 and 1888. I need some one with a big heart and some time to check the Huntingdon newspapers between those years, for an obit. There are no other records left for information. Samuel lists his parents in the census as being born in PA, I am hoping that his obit will maybe give me his parents names and maybe brothers and sisters, if he had any. His obit is my last hope. There is a link to my family history below. Maybe someone on the list will hold the key. Thanks for any help you can give. Leslie, Have you checked the card file for newspaper notices at the Huntingdon County Historical Society? Otherwise for someone to look through that much microfilm would be a very time-consuming task. I just finished looking through microfilm of a newspaper that was about 8 pages long and was published once a week and it took me about 3 hours to cover one year...that was kind of skimming to the pages that had the local news on them. When I was in Huntingdon, I looked through the card files, got the newspaper dates for obits and marriage notices and then went over to the Juniata College library to view the film. So you could probably do that in one trip. Patti Hobbs http://hobbits8.net On Jan 21, 2008, at 1:52 AM, Leslie H. Maybe the tax list would be a little easier. Like death you cannot avoid the tax collector or his records. -----Original Message----- From: pahuntin-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:pahuntin-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Leslie H. Hi Leslie, I have Samuel Kyle in my database and I have his death year listed as 1885. Now, I tried to check my sources, but I'm not sure where/how I got that date. Perhaps it will give you a starting point in your 1880-1888 range. I have him being married twice: first to Rebecca Forshey (1824-1870) and then to Christina Kyler (abt. 1831-aft. 1888). I do not have any information on his parents. I do have additional information on his descendents. If you would like what I have, please e-mail me off the list.
