Valetta M. Taylor, 88, of 502 Florence Ave., Avalon, Allegheny County, died at 8:55 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at her home. A private graveside service was held at the convenience of the family, with Rev. Don Henderson officiating. Interment was made in Cassville Cemetery. Born June 25, 1913, in Trough Creek she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Nettie (Saylor) Wilson. She married Robert James Taylor, who preceded her in death in 19'9. She is survived by one daughter, E. Jane Taylor of Avalon, three grandchildren and four great--grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Gladys Wright of Orbisonia. She was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Wilson of Cassville, and a sister, Carmen Lenore Markey of York. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Cassville United Methodist Church and, later in life, a visitor of the First United Methodist Church, Huntingdon. She was retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon, where she gave 30 years of service in the winding department. She was a lifelong resident of the Trough Creek and Cassville area, moving to Huntingdon later in life. She took great pride in her family's country farm heritage and spent many hours telling stories of farm life and educating her grandchildren in the art of country cooking and crafts.
