    3. Hi Leslie, I have Samuel Kyle in my database and I have his death year listed as 1885. Now, I tried to check my sources, but I'm not sure where/how I got that date. Perhaps it will give you a starting point in your 1880-1888 range. I have him being married twice: first to Rebecca Forshey (1824-1870) and then to Christina Kyler (abt. 1831-aft. 1888). I do not have any information on his parents. I do have additional information on his descendents. If you would like what I have, please e-mail me off the list. I am at a dead end in my search of Samuel Kyle. He was last noted in the 1880 census and his wife Christina is listed as his widow in the Huntingdon city directory in 1888. 3. Leslie, Have you checked the card file for newspaper notices at the Huntingdon County Historical Society? Otherwise for someone to look through that much microfilm would be a very time-consuming task. I just finished looking through microfilm of a newspaper that was about 8 pages long and was published once a week and it took me about 3 hours to cover one year...that was kind of skimming to the pages that had the local news on them. When I was in Huntingdon, I looked through the card files, got the newspaper dates for obits and marriage notices and then went over to the Juniata College library to view the film. So you could probably do that in one trip. Patti Hobbs http://hobbits8.net On Jan 21, 2008, at 1:52 AM, Leslie H. 3. I have a couple of comments that are only meant to be helpful. The newspaper DAILY LOCAL NEWS in Huntingdon published a compilation of the deaths of elderly citizens giving dates of death, at the end of each year, thru much of that time period. Someone could check the copies of those lists that are found at the county historical society's library. Of course, this individual may not be listed at all, or he may not have been considered to have been elderly. I myself have read a good number of death notices from the 1880s, and have rarely seen the parents or siblings of the deceased named, the exceptions being the death of a child, and cases where the parent, or a sibling, was a well-known citizen of the county. That's just the way it was done back then. My advice would be to look for a cemetery marker if you have not already done so. Even finding the year of death would be additional information, and there is always the possibility that the parents or other relatives are buried nearby. ----- Original Message ---- From: Leslie H. 3. Can anyone provide any help on this family request below that I received? I have already searched the Fleming wills at the Huntingdon County Courthouse without any luck. I also searched the transcribed cemetery records at http://www.rootsweb.com/~pahuntin/cemeteries.htm Any one have ties to the family? If you do, please contact George directly at gcstef@comcast.net Thanks, Deb "I am trying to find parents of Samuel Henry Fleming b.1817 d.1899 Born in Manor Hill, Barree Twp. Huntingdon County. Samuel's first wife was Rebecca White b.About 1834 from 1860 census (died before 1870). I can not locate her place of burial and death date. I have found that a John Fleming built a Grist Mill in 1791; a Stone Fulling Mill in 1805; a Still House in 1821 and plaster mill 1827. They never give information on this John Fleming. I have nothing on his family. If this is not Samuel's Father, then I could eliminate him in my search. If you can help in finding Samuel's parents and/ or final resting place of Rebecca, I would gratefully appreciate your time." Thank You, George.

    3. > > The Orphans Court Dockets have Indexes that are in the Register's and Recorder's Office. From the Index, one would find the Docket (An Alphabet letter such as F with the years that Docket covers) , Year of the Document, Document # and the page #. The actual Docket books are in the Record's Room in the basement of the Court House. It is not uncommon to find a series of OC Documents concerning an Estate. Documents concerning an Estate not settled within the span of years of the Docket will be recorded in the next Docket. I found one Estate that was still unsettled and docket entries were being made 50 years after the death. The dispersals of the monies and goods is found in the Estate Inventories. The old Widow's Inventories are also found in these books. The deceased assets, monies owed to the deceased, debts the estate paid and the division of the property and monies is found. Not all estate settlements were recordered. There are a couple hundred green metal boxes in the Register and Recorder's vault. They are numbered. At some point, (when documents started to be typed?) all the documents settling an Estate were grouped together in an heavy paper envelope which contains the Will, Estate Inventory, any Orphan's Court Dockets, Bonds, any pertinent information, etc. I have not researched that I have used this source, but it is there. I saw someone with one of the boxes opened and was shown what it as. This is information much later than what I have been researching. A genealogist Florence Clint wrote books called "a key" for each county in Pa, including one for the state. I purchased a "key" f or Huntingdon County which outlines what is at the Register and Recorder's Office, Prothonatary's Office, the Historical Society, etc. I purchased the book on e-bay. I have been looking for the 1910 Coroner's Record's. No one knows where they are. I have checked with the Prothonotary's Office, Johnny Mills (the Retired Register & Recorder) Janet Hanks, (Register & Recorder) the Commissioner's Office and Mrs. Polly Whelan. I have a Death Cert.signed by the Coroner in 1910. Anybody have any ideas where these records could be? Thanks, Teresa Shade Anderson

    2. Teresa Delikat
    3. Jessica, The administrator or executor is the person named in a will to handle the property of someone who has died. The executor collects the property, pays debts and taxes, and then distributes what's left, as specified in the will. The executor also handles any probate court proceedings and notifies people and organizations of the death. Also called personal representatives. The court process following a person's death includes: * proving the authenticity of the deceased's will * appointing someone to handle the deceased's affairs * identifying and inventorying the deceased's property * paying debts and taxes * identifying heirs (and guardians of minor children) * distributing the deceased person's property according to the will or, if there is no will, according to state law. Information could possibly be found in tax records; if property was sold, exchanged or divided look for deeds; and if there were minor children in the home check records in the orphan's court records. If the will does not state a guardian for the minor children, the court would have appointed one.
